Hawton and District WI back after difficult 18 months
After a difficult 18 months, Hawton and District WI is finally getting back on track.
Members enjoyed a get-together in July in the garden of ex-president Joan Preston, who was presented with a card and plant by new president Jane Timmins.
The next meeting was on September 8 at Hawtonville Methodist Hall where a minute’s silence was held for Judith Gill.
Due to the possible closure of Hawtonville Methodist Hall, the members voted in favour of becoming an afternoon WI and Newark Town Bowls Club was chosen for the meeting on October 13.
As that meeting would normally be Harvest Supper it would now become an afternoon tea, food to be paid for and provided by WI.
Speaker was Julian Ellis, a chartered textile technologist from The Framework and Knitters Museum at Ruddington.
October’s meeting consisted of an afternoon tea followed by bingo.
