Women's Institute groups in Bleasby celebrate 100 years and Sutton-on-Trent welcome a guest speaker

A Women's Institute group has celebrated a special anniversary.

Bleasby WI had its 100th birthday on October 19 and members celebrated with a special meal at Kelham House Country Manor Hotel.

Commemorative gifts were given including a book of The First 100 Years researched and written by a member and local resident Barbara Cast.

Laughter and entertainment was provided by Paula Cornwall in her role as Lady Gertrude Denman, who devoted her life at the turn of the 20th Century to the rights and roles of women.

The speaker at the Sutton-on-Trent October WI meeting was Lisa Hutchinson, of Willow Holistics.

She is a practitioner and teacher of Reiki, a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing.

Lisa uses Reiki on pets as well, and especially mentioned that anxious dogs and horses could benefit from the treatment.
