Southwell burglaries investigated by police
A series of burglaries where windows were smashed and cash and jewellery was stolen are being investigated.
Detectives investigating three house burglaries in Southwell are appealing for the public’s help as part of their ongoing inquiries.
The break-ins happened between Friday, September 24 and Monday, September 27.
A window was smashed by an offender to get into a house on Springfield Road between 5pm on Sunday and 8am on Monday.
The break-in is currently being linked with reports of a burglary at a home in Norwood Gardens, which happened between midday on Friday and 11am on Monday.
The raiders forced entry through a door before searching rooms. They took a small amount of cash and jewellery.
Detectives are also dealing with a report of a break-in at a second property on Springfield Road between Saturday and Monday, which is being treated as linked. An item of jewellery was taken.
Detective Sergeant Andrew Hall, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We are pursuing a number of lines of inquiry into these burglaries, we have carried out house-to-house inquiries and we are checking for any CCTV opportunities as we progress with our investigation.
“We are also appealing for anyone who saw any suspicious activity in these areas between the relevant times stated to please come forward as they may have key information which could help us with our inquiries.
“We would also like to hear from anyone who may have captured CCTV, dash-cam or mobile phone footage of these incidents which we are treating seriously.
“I want to re-assure local residents that we are working hard to find those responsible for these upsetting incidents which have caused immense distress to the victims.
“Patrols have been increased in the area while our inquiries continue and we have also provided security and crime prevention advice to help prevent further incidents.”
Anyone with any information is urged to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
