Woods Court residents to receive help in finding new accommodation
The six remaining residents at a care home due to shut next year will be offered help to find new accommodation.
Woods Court is set to close in the spring, following a Nottinghamshire County Council decision in February 2015 to shut all of its remaining care and support centres.
It has not admitted any long-term residents for the past year.
The county council had said that the care home would not be closed until an extra care facility was opened.
The £8m Gladstone House complex, off Bowbridge Road, Newark, is due to open early next year.
It will include 60 flats made up of 48 one-bedroom and 12 two-bedroom homes.
Mr Ainsley MacDonnell, adult social care and health director at Nottinghamshire County Council, said: “We will be working closely with these (remaining) residents and their families to seek suitable alternative accommodation within the local area, which may include the new Gladtsone House Extra Care scheme.
“Short-term care is also offered at Woods Court and we will be helping short-term residents to find other care homes that offer this kind of support, including the council’s care and support centres in Ollerton and Retford.”
