Wright Street cordon update
Nottinghamshire County Council has released an update on the cordon around the explosion scene in Newark.
The following update has been issued:
• Cromwell Mews: Residents living on Cromwell Mews can now return to their properties.
• Cromwell Road: Residents living on Cromwell Road can now return to their properties.
• Private Road: Residents are now being allowed back into their properties. At present it is pedestrian access only – vehicles should be parked on nearby streets.
• Wright Street: Residents are now being allowed back into their properties except for those residents of 24-34 Wright Street.
At present it is pedestrian access only – vehicles should be parked on nearby streets.
It will be a staged process for residents returning to homes on Wright Street and Private Road.
Staff from the county council and Newark and Sherwood District Council will be contacting residents to arrange for a time to meet at the Methodist Church on Charles Street.
Residents will then be escorted to their properties with a member of National Grid to allow for the gas to be reconnected at each property.
