Fosseway Writers host its summer writting competition
A writing competition is inviting the community to participate in this summer’s competition by writing a flash fiction story.
The Fosseway Writers’ competition usually runs three times a year, and this time, it is focused on the theme — Envelope.
All the entries will be judged by Anne Howkins, and the awards will be presented by external guest judges.
The top three winning writers will receive cash prizes; the 1st place will receive £50, 2nd £30, 3rd £20.
There will be an extra prize of £10 for the best placed Local Writer outside the top three from the NG22, NG23, NG24, and NG25 postcodes.
The entries should be up to 300 words in length, excluding the title, and must be typed in a black standard font, with 12pt.
All work must be original and previously unpublished; entries shouldn’t include the writer’s name anywhere, and they must be emailed.
Email entries should be sent to competitions.fosseway@mail.com with the writer’s entry as an attachment to the email, putting the entry title as the subject of the email.
In the body of the email, it must include the title of the entry, the writer’s name, address, email address, phone number and word count together with the amount paid.
People are allowed to submit multiple entries in one email, but need to specify it.
The first entry has a cost of £5, and any additional entry costs an extra £3. Fosseway Members get £1 discount from the total fees payable.
Writers can submit their entries until August 16, at 11.59pm, and the winners will be announced on Wednesday (September 3).
