Wrong definition

I have long thought that the one thing chief executives are good at is churning out meaningless words. Each time a new one is appointed, I think here we go again. The same old jargon we have heard numerous times.
Paul O’Connor told the Advertiser that Newark is a THRIVING hospital (Right Decision For The Right Clinical Reasons, Advertiser, August 7).
I looked up the word thriving. My book of synonyms said: “Succeed, grow, flourish, increase, advance.”
My Chambers dictionary said: “To grow, to grow healthily and vigorously, to get on, do well, to be successful, flourish, to increase in goods.”
It would have been more apt to describe the hospital as THRIVELESS, i.e. not thriving or prospering.
