Two young anglers saved a pair of baby cygnets from certain drowning this morning (Thursday).
Their nest is above Newark Weir and two babies were taken by the water current.
Andrei Adomnicai and Alex Neanu were fishing and spotted them and gave chase.
They reached one of the stricken cygnets but unfortunately couldn't reach the other so the quick-thinkers rang Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue who were in time to save the second.
A witness said: "So nice to see people so involved in taking care of wildlife. Much respect for all of them."
