Skipper Rob Taylor’s final innings for Newark R&M 1sts after 20 years’ service ended with him scoring the winning runs to ensure the club’s Division C survival in the South Notts League.

A good knock from Josh Downie helped Thurgarton 1sts clinch promotion.

Thurgarton needed to beat Kirkby Portland 1sts and rely on Bottesford 1sts losing to champions Plumtree 2nds.

Downie struck 91, fellow opener Colin Cliff hit 51 and Sam Cliff added 33 to help Thurgarton total 254.

Aaman Singh claimed seven for 63 runs as Kirkby fell 29 runs short.

Dan Barratt took three wickets for Bottesford, who had to chase 249 to seal promotion.

Jim Ward (43) Simon Claricoates (20) and Phillip Irvine (28) gave them a solid start after opener Nicholas Silverwood was caught for six.

A mid-order slump looked to have ended their hopes, but number seven Andy Norris struck 46 from 30 balls before Bottesford were dismissed for 203.

Thurgarton’s win meant Hovering-ham 1sts’ faint hopes of promotion were dashed, despite beating Radcliffe 2nds by six wickets.

Ben Carr hit 103 in Radcliffe’s 155 total.

Stuart Walton and Adam Hugill top-scored for Hoveringham with 41 and 33 respectively.

In Division A, by Chris Dobbie wasn’t enough for Balderton 1sts, who ended in fourth place after losing to Calverton 1sts.

Steve Barnett scored 46 and Dobbie 42. Captain Alan Jackson added 31 in Balderton’s 175.

In reply, Darren Wright struck 52 for Calverton.

Dobbie lead the Balderton bowling attack with three for 44. John Esam also took three wickets and Ian Sellars claimed two before Calverton won by two wickets.

Champions Radcliffe 1sts lost to Hucknall 1sts, despite four wickets from 15-year-old Jacob Deavin Baker.

Radcliffe’s top-scorers in a total of 187 for nine were Rob Sutton (38) Kunil Jogia (34) and Jake Fish (24).

Hucknall, who had an outside chance of finishing second with victory, got off to a good start before Deavin Baker took four for 45.

Eddie Torr claimed two more wickets, before Hucknall won by three wickets.

In Division B, Collingham 1sts were beaten by Long Eaton 1sts, whose 202-run victory secured promotion.

David Sears took two wickets as Long Eaton scored 271 for five.

Collingham were bowled out for 69 and finished sixth.

A half-century by Devon McCarthy wasn’t enough for Southwell 1sts, who lost to Gotham Village 1sts.

McCarthy scored 55 and Dave Rimmer (29) Tim Green (24) and Chris Miller (21) added useful runs in Southwell’s 165.

Zac Ashworth took two wickets as Gotham knocked off their target in 33 overs and won by seven wickets, but still dropped down to Division C.
