Endeavour Taekwondo punches above its weight as Nottinghamshire dojos go all over country
A growing taekwondo club continues to punch above its weight in contests after another successful showing — this time at the BUTL competition in Manchester, where they won five medals.
The Endeavour Taekwondo Club took part in the competition which saw several hundred students come from all over the UK including as far afield as Scotland and Northern Ireland.
The club achieved its medals in sparring and pattern contests from the nine students who took part.
After the competition the team all were treated to ice creams due to their excellent performance and because one of their students Thomas Martin who turned 11 had attended the competition for his birthday.
The school is run by Sarah Harney and was set up before the pandemic, the school has now grown with several locations in Nottinghamshire.
The Manchester success comes off the back of a trip last month to Kent where the club won another dozen medals as a team.
Ten-year-old Erin, Sarah's daughter won several medals and is now the British sparring champion in her category.
Sarah has now attained her third-degree black belt and her sons Aidan has achieved his 2nd degree, while William has gained his first-degree black belt under her tutorage.
Both of Sarah's sons assist her during classes.

"The door is open to anyone who wants to try Taekwondo," said Sarah Haney, the chief instructor at the school.
"The club regularly trains at Rainworth, South Muskham, and Southwell and is focused on promoting the sport with local North Notts communities.
"Most of our students come from the areas around our schools and the surrounding villages.
"We also work with local schools to develop talent."
Haney said that they are always looking for future champions and added that it was a great sport for all ages.
