Double winners look for new management team
RHP Social, who won the Newark Alliance Senior Division title and the Willie Hall Trophy last season are searching for new leadership after the decision of joint-managers Dave Hillier and Kevin Smith to step down at Sunday’s annual general meeting.
Dennis Rawle has also been replaced as chairman of the club by Matt Ridyard, but it is the decision of Hillier and Smith to call it a day that has caused shock waves on the local football scene.
The duo, who created Newark footballing history when they won all four trophies available to them a year ago, feel that it is time for the players to hear a new voice in the dressing room.
Kevin Smith — known to all as “Masgie” — is stepping down to help Anthony Allam with the club’s young A team, while Hillier is taking a break from football for the first time in 40 years.
The pair have been at the helm for four years, finishing fourth the first year, runners-up in the second, and champions for the last two years.
