Newark Amateur Boxing Club's Mikey Lindsay and Megan Williams gain experience at England Boxing 2021 NAC quarter finals

Two Newark boxers showcased their skills in the England Boxing 2021 National Amateur Championships on Saturday — but fell short in their respective bouts.

Mikey Lindsay, of Newark Amateur Boxing Club, based at Suggy’s Gym, suffered a points defeat against GB’s Courtney Bennett at the quarter-final stage at the Chase Leisure Centre in Cannock.

Lindsay said: “Credit where it’s due, I was beaten fair and square by the more experienced Team GB boxer.

“It was a great learning experience, the first time I’ve ever suffered a knock down in a contest but I showed the will to get up and fight to the last bell.”

Newark’s Megan Williams was stopped in the first round in her quarter-final bout against Michelle Cox.

It was the first time the Suggy’s Gym-based boxer had not gone the distance.
