Chris Miller and Shahid Mohammed scores centuries for Southwell Cricket Club
A double century opening partnership helped steer Southwell 2nds to success in their South Nottinghamshire League Division J match on Saturday.
They beat Burton Joyce Lions 2nds by 55 runs with Chris Miller and Shahid Mohammed in magnificent form for the hosts.
Miller made 108 not out while Mohammed was unbeaten on 102 as the openers carried their bats throughout the 40 overs.
Miller smashed 13 fours and two sixes in his innings while Mohammed also found the boundary 15 times as Southwell made 239 without losing a wicket.
They then restricted the Lions to 184-6 from their 40 overs in reply with Jim Scott and Ganesh Subramanian both taking two wickets each in the victory.
Farndon 2nds were three wicket winners at Bottesford while their first team were without a game in Division D.
Southwell were unable to tame the title charge of Farndon's championship rivals Burton Joyce Lions after losing by five wickets in Saturday's clash.
After being put into bat by their second-placed hosts, Southwell played out their 45 overs to finish on 189-9.
Ant Brown was dismissed one run short of his half-century while Sam Barber had reached 45 until he was run out.
Opener Matt Clarke had earlier made 34 for Southwell who were unable to defend their total as Lions secured the win in the 33rd over despite David Rimmer taking a couple of wickets for the visitors.
