Newark Town have appointed Newark Flowserve boss Steven Venables as their new manager, following the departure of Tony Joynes.

Venables made the switch to Town after two successful seasons with Notts Senior League side Flowserve. He guided the club to two successive promotions during that time.

He will be accompanied by assistant manager Matt Wade, Richard Mills and coach Oliver Tatterson. Venables said he was pleased to have been appointed at the Central Midlands League Division North side.

“I’m delighted to have this opportunity and keen to get started on the hard work ahead," he said.

"My main priorities are to unify the first team and reserve teams and to put together a team capable of reaching and maintaining football at a higher level.“

Town chairman Dave Roberts said: “I’m absolutely delighted by the appointment. Steven has proved himself as a manager and his appointment at Newark Town will give him the platform to take himself and the club to the next level.

"He made a really positive impression with both his enthusiasm and professionalism, and I look forward to exciting times ahead for Newark Town."
