Perfect ten for runaway table-toppers Flowserve
Flowserve’s remarkable start to the season continued as they demolished their nearest rivals before kick-off with a totally dominant performance.
The visitors could have scored even more goals as they stretched their lead at the top of the Notts Senior League Premier Division to 11 points.
Joint manager Craig Roche was also delighted that his side never looked like conceding as they made it ten wins from ten matches, despite losing three defenders to illness just before the game.
“That just shows our strength in depth now,” said Roche. “We still looked solid.
“We kept our shape and discipline from the goalkeeper all the way through the side to the strikers. We were spot-on.
“It was our most pleasing performance over a 90 minutes this season.
“We scored five, but it could have been more as we mised more chances.
“The most pleasing thing was that while we constantly looked like scoring, we did not give them a chance.”
Despite their fine start, which has seen them average almost four goals per match and concede just nine so far, Roche said no one at the club was getting carried away.
“It is still early days, there is still a lot of work to do and a lot of improvement that can be made,” he said.
“Everyone’s feet are being kept firmly on the ground."
Run-up to Christmas
Daryl Price and Sam Agar both struck twice and Elliot King was also on the scoresheet as Flowserve coped well in the windy conditions.
Price, a constant threat throughout, opened the scoring from a 15th-minute cross.
The striker finished from ten yards after good work by Lewis Chambers on the right wing.
Chambers again provided the assist for King to double the advantage before half-time.
Jack Beckett and Jamie Lloyd combined in midfield to create the chance for Agar to add number three from 15 yards.
Price made it 4-0 with a solo goal, beating the home right-back on the left and cutting past other defenders to score.
Agar, who also plays at a higher level for Walsall Wood, completed the scoring with a terrific finish, cutting in from the left and curling into the top corner from 18 yards.
Roche added: “Now we want to finish the month with a win on Saturday against Sandiacre Town.
“Then we will look at the next phase of fixtures, seven games that will take us up to Christmas when we can re-assess and see where we are.”
- Flowserve’s match against Sandiacre Town will kick-off at 2pm, as will future Saturday home matches.
