Newark Ransome & Marles 1sts lost their top-of-the-table clash against Eastwood Town in Division C of the South Notts League.

A six-wicket defeat leaves them in third place, 22 points behind leaders Eastwood, who also have a game in hand.

Raj Mohankumar top-scored with 54 while opener Harry Atkinson hit 33 as Newark were bowled out for 161.

Sonu Charley and Bhuvanesh Sankaran removed the Eastwood openers cheaply to keep the visitors in contention.

James Anderson went on to take 2-25 in eight overs but the home side completed a comfortable victory in the 39th over.

Newark Ransome & Marles 2nds went down to Soar Valley 2nds by 38 runs in Division H.

Bowlers were on top as Valley were held to a modest 140-8, with James Tall, Puran Singh Koranga and Luc Chignell claiming two wickets apiece.

Newark struggled in reply, with the top four dismissed in single figures.

Matthew Fiddes offered resistance with an impressive 51 but wickets fell around him as Newark slipped to 102 all out.

Defeat sees them lose sixth place to Soar Valley.

In Division M, Newark Ransome & Marles 3rds lost to Beeston & Toton Sycamore by seven wickets.

Bottom side Newark were bowled out for 138 inside 30 overs.

Wicketkeeper James Haywood hit five boundaries in a knock of 31 off 54 balls, while Jamie Macintyre made a quickfire 20 off 11.

Ryan Walker (2-33) reduced Beeston to 18-2 in reply but they eased home with the loss of only one further wicket.
