Southwell Rugby Club 1st XV progressed in the Three Counties Cup with a 45-5 win at home to Kesteven at Park Lane on Saturday, writes.

Skipper Nick Dunsworth scored a hat trick and there were tries for Tom Anstey (2) Jim Burley and Tom Bullimore, while Paul Rich kicked five conversions.

Newark Rugby Club’s first and second team squads had a weekend off but the undefeated 3rd XV continued their winning run at Melbourne in a Pennant fixture with a 17-7 victory thanks to tries from Phil Howes, Bryan Loftus and James McKewn, with captain Dan Harrison kicking a conversion.

The 4ths lost 17-7 at home to Mansfield, with Tom Lee converting his own try, while the Colts had a disappointing trip to Hinckley for their first round tie in the plate competition of the National Cup, losing 17-12. Angus Spencer and Tom Webb got the tries, with David Fagan adding a conversion.
