The first gig for Farnsfield Acoustic in 2013 sees a return visit from the alternative folk band, Circus Envy, a week on Saturday in Farnsfield Village Centre.

The young band from Hull feature a line-up of primarily acoustic instruments, adding a traditional sensibility to their harmony-led modern songs with use of bouzouki, mandolin and cajon.

This is supplemented by tight vocal harmonies that have become their trademark.

The group has performed alongside artists such as Jim Moray, Megson, Belshazzer’s Feast, Iain Matthews and Jackie Leven.

The band’s 2011 album, Secrets, was released to critical acclaim, and received significant airplay, including on Mike Harding’s BBC Radio 2 programme.

This is the group’s only gig until the summer festivals.

Circus Envy is working on a third album.
