Fans taken on musical trip down memory lane
The new season at the Palace Theatre, Newark, begins a week tomorrow with a tribute to the music of Jeff Lynne and The Electric Light Orchestra.
After more than 40 years in the music business their hits such as Mr Blue Sky, Telephone Line, Confusion, It’s Magic, Sweet Talking Woman, Turn To Stone, Evil Woman, and Don’t Bring Me Down still receive regular radio airings.
The ELO Experience, fronted by Andy Louis as Jeff Lynne on rhythm guitar and lead vocals, not only look like the supergroup but also sound like them.
The rest of the band are musical director Steve Hemsley on keyboards, special effects and vocals; Pete Smith on bass guitar and vocals; Jan Christiansan on lead guitar and vocals; Tony Lawson on drums and percussion; and Viv Blackledge and Olivia Newton on cellos.
The show, which lasts for more than two hours, starts at 7.30pm and takes fans on a magical, musical trip down memory lane, back to the heyday of the 1970s.
