Feast of Fiddles 30th Anniversary Spring Tour coming to Lowdham Village Hall
A “bunch of old folk-rockers” are back on the road, for their 30th anniversary tour.
Feast of Fiddles are once again holding their Spring Tour this year, after a very successful return to the road post pandemic restrictions.
What was once intended as a one-off special concert in Nettlebed on Valentine’s Day 1994, Feast of Fiddles has now clocked up 28 spring tours, 26 festivals and has 7 CDs to its name.
Feast of Fiddles will be at Lowdham Village Hall on Friday, April 26.
It is a band of friends that puts on a show of huge dynamic range performed with passion, joy and a liberal dose of fun.
Fiddlers Garry Blakeley (Band of Two), Hugh Crabtree, Ian Cutler (Bully Wee), Marion Fleetwood (Trad Arr, Sandy Denny Project), Dave Harding, Tom Leary (Joe Brown), Brian McNeill (Battlefield Band), Simon Swarbrick (Merry Hell), and Martin Vincent bring a large range of fiddle playing styles to the rock back-line — all held together by legendary drummer Dave Mattacks.
Founding member Hugh Crabtree said: “I am frankly amazed that Feast of Fiddles is hitting the road again in 2024 — 30 years after the ‘daft idea’ first got enacted in Nettlebed Village Hall. In our 20th year, thinking I’d better do it while I could, I organised a special concert in St Albans and managed to get pretty much everyone who had played with the band together for the night.
“It was a fantastic evening which we did not record, wanting it to be unique for those that attended. No special concert plans for this tour but we may see some old friends along the way who have been part of the feast. What we can definitely promise is a good time evening of musical entertainment the like of which you’ll not see elsewhere.
“Old friends in the audience — we look forward to seeing you again and please follow our Facebook page as it will be busy with comment. Fiddle learners looking for inspiration — get it here; and doubting friends dragged along — we guarantee you’ll love it. Promise.”
