The final production of the year for Southwell Theatre Club is Two by Jim Cartwright, author of The Rise And Fall Of Little Voice.

It will be staged at Southwell Library from Thursday, December 7 to Saturday, December 9.

Set in a northern pub, the action revolves around the landlord and landlady — played by Nicola Ellis and Steve Atkin — and the myriad of customers who frequent their pub, bringing in little pieces of their own lives.

Despite running the establishment with professionalism, below the shiny surfaces and welcoming smiles, there is constant bickering.

Things haven’t been right between the pair for years. In the end the audience will discover why.

Director Liz Atkin says she was always looking for a challenge and Two did not disappoint.

It is a play designed for two actors who play 14 characters as they visit the pub over the course of the evening.

“Over a whirlwind of comings and goings, monologues and dialogue the audience find themselves sucked into the world of the pub,” said Liz.

“It is a challenge, but an exciting one.”

Performances take place daily at 7.30pm.

Tickets costing £8 are from Southwell Library, by calling 01636 812148 or email southwelltheatreclub@gmail.com
