Sassy singer lined up for forest gigs
Paloma Faith is the latest act to announce that they will be performing concerts in seven woodland locations this summer as part of the Forestry Commission’s Forest Live concert series.
Paloma, who has had a string of hits with Stone Cold Sober, Upside Down, New York, Picking Up The Pieces, Never Tear Us Apart, and 30 Minute Love Affair, will play at the Sherwood Pines Forest Park, near Edwinstowe, on Saturday, June 15.
The songstress shot to fame in 2009 with the release of her debut album, Do You Want The Truth, Or Something Beautiful? which featured an ensemble of retro-referencing soul and sassy pop songs.
Last year she released a second album, Fall To Grace, a collection of compositions in a new contemporary realm.
Her achievements have been recognised by the music industry with Brit Award nominations. Her platinum-selling second album is up for best album, and she has been nominated for best British female.
Paloma said: “I’m really excited about these shows. It’s going to be a great experience so I hope you will be able to join me on my woodland adventure this summer.
“I am also delighted to have been nominated for these Brit awards. I don’t expect to win, but it’s so wonderful to be acknowledged for contributing something to British music. I am very proud to be British and so happy to do something I love.”
Last year it was announced that Blondie, fronted by Debbie Harry, would perform in the Forest Live concerts, making an appearance at Sherwood Pines on Friday, June 14.
Forest Live is an independent programme organised by the Forestry Commission bringing music to new audiences without commercial branding or sponsorship.
Income generated from ticket sales is spent on improving the local forests for both people and wildlife.
Tickets for the Sherwood Pines gig goes on sale tomorrow at 9am by ringing 03000 680400 or online at www.forestry.gov. uk/music
