Full line-up revealed for Splendour Festival at Wollaton Park, with Melanie C and The Selector added to bill
The full line-up for this summer’s Splendour Festival has been revealed with pop star Melanie C and two-tone legends The Selecter added to the bill.
They join already confirmed headliners Richard Ashcroft and Supergrass, as well as The Vamps, Becky Hill and Sleeper, making 2021’s line-up an eclectic mix of exciting new acts and established heavy hitters.
The festival is due to take place at Wollaton Park on Saturday, July 24.
Mel C burst on to the music scene in 1996 with the Spice Girls when their debut single, Wannabe, topped the charts in 37 countries.
They went on to sell millions of albums and singles and played sell-out tours across the globe.
She launched her solo career with the huge hit When You’re Gone with Bryan Adams and has had two number ones and six top-ten singles.
The Selecter is led by frontwoman Pauline Black and co-fronted by original member Arthur ‘Gaps’ Hendrickson.
They will be performing hits from their extensive back catalogue on the Confetti stage, including Three Minute Hero, Missing Words, Too Much Pressure and On My Radio.
Joining them on the Confetti stage will be The Vamps, Sleeper, BEKA, Since September, Alice Robbins and Blle.
Since September won Little Mix’s The Search television show.
Newly-announced for the main stage is Heather Small, aka the voice of M People, who has had a hugely successful career, and is recognised as one of the seminal voices of the Nineties, singing on hits such as Moving On Up, One Night In Heaven and Search For The Hero.
The main stage is headlined by Richard Ashcroft. Now an accomplished solo artist, he first shot to fame as the singer in The Verve, whose album Urban Hymns spawned the classic hits Bitter Sweet Symphony, The Drugs Don’t Work and Lucky Man.
Also on the main stage are Supergrass, who enjoyed a string of hit albums in the Nineties and ten top-20 singles, including Caught By The Fuzz and Alright; and Eighties superstar Rick Astley, who will be performing hits such as Never Gonna Give You Up, Together Forever, and She Wants To Dance With Me.
Completing the main stage line-up are Becky Hill, Jerub, Tori Sheard, and the Nusic competition winner.
The Courtyard Stage will be an eclectic mix of local artists, from post-punk four-piece Cucamaras to soulful songwriter and producer Saffron.
Aside from the three music stages there is comedy in the courtyard, a children’s area and entertainers out and about in the crowd.
