Intriguing glimpses into a cupboard full of family skeletons with lots of detective work is the latest offering from the Burton Joyce Players in Burton Joyce Village Hall from a week today to a week on Saturday at 7.30pm.

The unusual suspense play, Take Away The Lady, has been written by Jimmie Chinn and will keep the audience guessing whodunnit right until the very end.

Returning home from prison, after serving 15 years for allegedly murdering his mother, Matthew Doubleday finds his three sisters, his wife and his father waiting for him.

Still protesting his innocence, Matthew’s arrival prompts the question, who did kill his mother — scornful Celia, dotty Emma, cold Lavinia, flighty Gilda or even gentle Father? Accusations and hypotheses abound.

The play is set in the 1980s before the world was taken over by PCs, emails, mobile phones and text messages.

Directed by Mel Reynolds, the cast comprises Ian Hichens as Matthew, Avril McCormick as Gilda, Lorraine Andrew as Emma, Richard Hichens as Charles, Deborah Craddock as Lavinia, Patrick McDonough as Richard Owen and Kathy Matthew as Celia Owen.

Tickets are available from Burton Joyce Paper Shop, Burton Joyce Post Office, from www.bjp.ticketsource.co.uk or on the door.
