A round-up of all the performances at Newark Palace Theatre in October




Music dominates the line-up at Newark Palace Theatre this month with a host of local performers, nostalgia and tributes providing the entertainment.

It starts with a trip back to the 1950s and 60s tonight in a celebration of the history of rock and roll with the Rave On stage show.

Sing along, dress up and enjoy young musicians sing the likes of Elvis Presley and Chuck Berry.

The Band of the Royal Air Force College Cranwell returns to the Palace on Saturday with music from the stage and screen and a tribute for the 80th anniversary of the Dambusters.

Forty years on from his number one hit album, No Parlez, Paul Young is on a UK tour meeting his fans and performing his songs at the Palace a week today.

The night also includes Paul sharing stories from his long career and performing hits like Wherever I Lay My Hat (That’s my Home).

Newark and Sherwood Concert Band take the Palace Auditorium on October 14.

The following day sees the return of That’ll Be The Day, combining the best of music from the Fifties to the Eighties alongside comedy and sketches.

There is a night for the country music fans on Friday, October 20, when Made In Tennessee gives a taste of Nashville with classics from the likes of Garth Brooks, Carrie Underwood and Chris Stapleton.

Enjoy Granny Grinpickle’s Magic Porridge Pot, puppets, pop-up sets and original music to keep the children entertained on Monday, October 23, with the Gingerbread Man And A Pot Full Of Magic.

Then, it is back to the music with The Story of Guitar Heroes on Friday, October 2, featuring some well-known tracks.

Using 30 guitars, the show’s performers pay homage to the most iconic guitarists of the past 50 years.

And to end the month, William Hicks plays tribute to the icon and legend Barry White, playing the classics You’re The First The Last My Everything and Never Gonna Give You Up.

He is joined on stage by the Soul Unlimited Band and supported by the Supreme Dreamgirls on Saturday, October 28.
