Newark and Bingham MP Robert Jenrick removed as Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government in cabinet reshuffle
Newark and Bingham MP Robert Jenrick has been removed as Secretary-of-State for Housing, Communities and Local Government in a Cabinet reshuffle this afternoon.
Mr Jenrick was pictured looking glum after a meeting at 10 Downing Street.
He has not been offered another job in the Cabinet.
In a tweet, Mr Jenrick said he would continue to support the government and the Prime Minister, who was one of the first to back in the Conservative leadership race.
The tweet said: "It’s been a huge privilege to serve as Secretary of State @mhclg
"Thank you to everyone at the department for their hard work, dedication and friendship. I’m deeply proud of all we achieved.
"I will continue to support the Prime Minister and the government in every way I can."
