RHP Sports and Social Club, Newark, presented Guide Dogs with a cheque for £5,000




RHP Sports and Social Club, Newark, presented sight loss charity Guide Dogs with a cheque for £5,000 to help support two guide dog puppies through their first year of socialisation training.

The money was raised by members of the club, led by Jules Pennells and Neil Cree, who are on the committee.

The club held a raffle for two people to have the chance to name the puppies that will be supported through the donation.

The winners were Donna Colcomb and Barri Williams, who chose to name one puppy either Simba or Maddison and the other Max or Bella.

As well as being able to choose a name, they will also receive a birth certificate and photograph of their sponsored pup at six weeks old.

Jules said: “We are delighted to support Guide Dogs in their mission to help more people,who are blind and partially-sighted achieve greater mobility and independence.

“Our members raised the funds through various events, including a memory tree at Christmas, Northern Soul Night and a Dine In The Dark event where the diners ate their three-course meal blindfolded.

“A big thank you to NSK for their prize donations, which helped boost our fundraising.

Jane Shelley, for Guide Dogs Nottingham, said: “RHP Sports and Social Club could not have given us a warmer welcome.”

She said every penny of the donation would assist people in living independent lives.
