Plans for Newark antiques centre to be turned into homes submitted
A planning application has been lodged for the conversion of a former antiques centre into nine residential units.
The submission to Newark and Sherwood District Council is for the antiques centre at 22 Albert Street, Newark, which recently closed.
The property is thought to have originally been built as a school and comprises a large part single, part two-storey, brick-built detached building with a pitched slate roof.
It was most recently used as an open-plan showroom at ground-floor level and for storage and additional display space on the first-floor level.
The second storey is located at the north-eastern end of the building.
Documents accompanying the application say the site is an area characterised by residential and commercial development. The split is approximately 70% residential and 30% commercial.
The units proposed would be a mix of one, two and three bed apartments.
Nine off-street parking spaces are proposed, two of them disabled spaces. A communal bicycle and bin store is also proposed as part of the development.
