Newark couple celebrate 60 years of marriage




A couple, Peter and Doreen Stace, have celebrated 60 years of marriage.

They were married at St Mark’s Church, Portsmouth, on April 23, 1960, and moved to Riverside Road, Newark, in 1978 when Peter, who was in the RAF, was posted to RAF Newton.

When Peter retired from the RAF he worked in Nottingham for the Department of Social Security, followed by the Mental Health Commission until he retired for keeps.

Doreen worked at Broughton’s Garage, Farndon Road, Newark ­— later Troops.

They have daughters Catherine and Julie, their husbands Rob and Warren, and grandsons Jason, Tom, their wives Becky and Amy, and great-grandchildren Harry, Jacob and Scarlett.

Catherine said: “All send congratulations and our love to them.”
