Person has died following incident near Newark North Gate




A teenager has died following the incident at Newark North Gate yesterday, the British Transport Police (BTP) has confirmed.

A spokesperson for the BTP said: "Shortly after 7.20am today (November 15), British Transport Police were called to the line close to Newark North Gate station after reports a person had fallen from a bridge.

"Paramedics attended alongside officers however a 15-year-old boy was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

"Officers are also working to establish the circumstances of how the boy came to be on the tracks and receive their fatal injuries. A file will be prepared for the coroner.

"Specially trained family liaison officers are supporting the family as they comes to terms with this tragic news."

All train lines have reopened and Beacon Hill Road, Newark has also reopened, but the access to the cycle path remains closed.
